Hotspot, Call Shop and Cyber Café Software : Getting Started

Here's what you need to do to start using the program.  Even though the observations that follow refer to use as an Internet Café, they are almost all applicable for use as a Hotspot or Call Shop.

First, the program must be correctly installed and configured on the server and the various clients.

Then, Explorer Manager can be started on the server. When the program opens, it displays the Main Window from which you can access all the program functions and monitor connections, printing, orders, etc.

When the program is installed, the archive contains one test customer, called Mario Rossi whose username is mario700 and whose password is moto24. Next, start Explorer Client on one of the navigation workstations and enter Mario Rossi's username and password (mario700 and moto24). If all goes well, you will be logged in to the workstation and, immediately, the residual credit, the credit used and the navigation time will appear in the lower right hand corner while, on the left, the classic Windows Start button will be replaced with the Programs button, which allows running only enabled programs (and Internet Explorer, by default).

Returning to the server and Explorer Manager, you will immediately note that, in the Workstations area, there is a box with the name of the computer you logged onto in red and connection data (user, start time, connection duration and residual credit).

Now that you're familiar with the manager and the navigation workstation, we are ready to get to work: the first thing to do is to define your Rates and the User Groups. At this point, you can start to enter customers in the archive. This is done in Explorer Manager by clicking New to the right of the customer list. A new user is created and a User Record is displayed where you will need to enter the customer's registration data, giving him a username and password or creating a Smart Card, specifying the Rate he will be charged and the Group he belongs to. This last piece of information determines the restrictions placed on the customer and what programs he can run.

If the programme has been configured as a Hotspot, logging will be possible without the use of Explorer Client. In this case just open the browser and enter your own username and password.

Instead, the workstation should be manually started if using the program as a Call Shop to allow the customer to make calls.
